About Us

Jane Carrier and Skip Symanski, the owners of Elixir, have 50 years combined experience in the hospitality industry. They have worked in all aspects of the business, from dishwashing on up to owning and operating restaurants in several Northeastern and Mid-Atlantic states.

Their philosophy considers hospitality, food and service to be equally important in meeting all guest expectations and will strive to make your experience at Elixir exactly what you want it to be.

After living in the Upper Valley for three years Jane and Skip decided to open Elixir because they feel at home in the community and want to be part of the revitalization of White River Junction. They feel the unique setting that the restaurant offers is exactly what the area needs. They look forward to being involved in the local community and contributing to its growth.

About the Chef

Jean Pierre Debeuf is a native of Nice, France. He spent six years in culinary training at Thonon-les-Bains where he did everything from washing dishes to hotel management. As the top student in his class he was given the opportunity to go anywhere in the world for a year. He chose to go to the Meridian Hotel in Boston in 1983 and has been working in the United States for the last 26 years.

Jean Pierre (JP) also worked in several other restaurants in Boston including the Ritz-Carlton, Four Seasons, and 75 Chestnut. He has opened several restaurants in New Hampshire before moving to Vermont where he opened the Tunbridge Country Store.

JP’s cooking philosophy is to make everything in house and in that way control the quality of every item he serves. He makes all his own desserts, ice cream, focaccia as well as all his own appetizers and entrees..
